1948 Roosevelt Dime BU
In 1948, the United States Mint in Philadelphia struck this ten cent piece, continuing a design legacy that honored a transformative American president. Struck in 90 percent silver, this dime contains approximately 0.0723 troy ounces of precious metal. Preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, the coin retains its original mint luster and sharp details just as it appeared when first minted. The obverse side displays a left-facing portrait of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Surrounding the profile are the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1948 year of issue. This side also features the tiny initials JS near the base of the neck. On the reverse, a central torch stands upright, flanked by an olive branch on the left and an oak branch on the right. These elements represent peace and strength. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination ONE DIME frame the design, while the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is split across the lower field.
