In 1949, the Denver Mint produced a silver half dollar that captures a distinct era of American coinage. This particular specimen is certified in Mint State 63 (MS-63) and carries the highly sought-after Full Bell Lines designation, indicating an exceptionally sharp and complete strike on the details of the reverse design. The obverse of the coin features a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, one of America's most famous founding figures. Accompanying his likeness are the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1949 date. This clean, dignified portrait was created by designer John R. Sinnock. On the reverse, the iconic Liberty Bell takes center stage, complete with its historic crack and wooden yoke. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings complements the design. The reverse also displays the denomination of HALF DOLLAR, the country of origin, and the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. A small 'D' mint mark above the bell signifies its origin from the Denver facility. Struck in 0.900 fine silver, this coin contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal.
