Struck at the Denver Mint in 1949, this mid-century silver half dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. The coin contains 0.3575 troy ounces of silver, minted with a purity of 0.900. This particular specimen is certified in Mint State 63 (MS-63), preserving the crisp details of its mid-century craftsmanship. The obverse features a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, designed by John R. Sinnock. Accompanying this portrait are the traditional inscriptions of "LIBERTY" and "IN GOD WE TRUST," along with the 1949 date of issue. On the reverse, the historic Liberty Bell takes center stage, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible, a design element included to fulfill legal requirements for the denomination. The reverse inscriptions display the face value of "HALF DOLLAR" and the national motto "E Pluribus Unum." The Denver origin is marked by the "D" mint mark, located just above the bell.
