Struck at the Philadelphia mint in 1949, this mid-century silver coin represents a classic era of American coinage. The half dollar is composed of 0.900 fine silver, containing 0.3617 troy ounces of the precious metal. This particular specimen has been graded Mint State 65 (MS-65) and carries the highly sought-after Full Bell Lines designation, indicating an exceptionally sharp and complete strike on the reverse details. The obverse of the coin presents a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, one of America's most famous founding figures. Surrounding his likeness are the inscriptions "LIBERTY" and "IN GOD WE TRUST", along with the 1949 date of issue. Because this piece was minted in Philadelphia, it does not bear a mint mark. On the reverse, the iconic Liberty Bell takes center stage, rendered with such precision that the horizontal lines at the bottom of the bell are fully defined. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is depicted. The reverse design, created by John R. Sinnock, also features the traditional motto "E Pluribus Unum" alongside the denomination and the country of origin.
