1950-D Booker T. Washington Half MS-65 PCGS

0.3617 troy oz .900 1950 MS-65 (PCGS)

This mid-century silver half dollar, minted in 1950 at the Denver facility, serves as a tribute to Booker T. Washington. Born into the final generation of Black Americans under the system of slavery, Washington rose to prominence as an influential educator, author, orator, and presidential adviser. He stood as a central figure in the African-American community from 1890 to 1915. Designed by Isaac Scott Hathaway, the coin features a detailed bust of Washington on its obverse. The reverse side depicts a log cabin paired with the poignant inscription, "From Slave Cabin To Hall Of Fame." This particular specimen is certified in Mint State 65 (MS-65) and contains 0.3617 ounces of silver, representing a tiny original mintage of just 6,004 pieces.
