1950-D Franklin Half Dollar BU

In 1950, the Denver Mint produced a striking silver half dollar that departed from the traditional allegorical figures of American coinage. Instead, this fifty-cent piece honors Benjamin Franklin, one of the nation's most famous founding figures. His right-facing profile dominates the obverse of the coin, accompanied by the classic inscriptions of liberty and trust, alongside the mid-century date. John R. Sinnock designed this coin, pairing the portrait of Franklin with a highly detailed reverse. The central feature of the reverse is the Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings stands out, while the traditional motto meaning "out of many, one" and the denomination are clearly inscribed. This particular issue contains 0.3575 troy ounces of silver, minted with a purity of 90 percent, and carries the Denver "D" mint mark.
