1951-S Franklin Half Dollar BU
Struck in 90% fine silver, this 1951 half dollar represents a classic mid-century American coin design. Minted at the San Francisco facility, it carries the distinctive 'S' mint mark, indicating its West Coast origin. The coin contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal and is preserved in brilliant uncirculated condition, showcasing its original luster. The obverse features a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, one of the nation's most famous founding figures. Surrounding his portrait are the inscriptions 'LIBERTY' and 'IN GOD WE TRUST', along with the 1951 date of issue. This design was created by John R. Sinnock, bringing a fresh, modern aesthetic to the circulating coinage of the era. On the reverse, the central focus is the historic Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible, satisfying the legal requirement for the denomination. The reverse inscriptions include 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA', the 'HALF DOLLAR' denomination, and the traditional motto 'E PLURIBUS UNUM'.
