1951-S Franklin Half Dollar Fine/XF
In 1951, the San Francisco Mint produced a classic silver half dollar that honors one of America's most influential founding figures. The obverse of this fifty-cent piece features a right-facing portrait of Benjamin Franklin. Surrounding his likeness are the inscriptions LIBERTY placed above the bust, with the motto IN GOD WE TRUST positioned underneath. The year of manufacture is clearly visible to the right of Franklin's profile. The reverse of the coin displays a detailed rendering of the Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the left of the bell, the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is inscribed, while a small eagle with open wings stands to the right. The denomination is spelled out along the bottom border. Composed of 90 percent silver, each of these coins contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal, representing a beloved mid-century design by John R. Sinnock.
