1952 Franklin Half Dollar Fine/XF

In 1952, the United States Mint produced a half dollar that departed from traditional allegorical figures, opting instead to honor one of the nation's most famous founding fathers. The obverse of this silver coin features a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin. Surrounding his likeness are the inscriptions LIBERTY positioned above and the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, placed below. The year 1952 is clearly visible to the right of Franklin's bust. The reverse of the coin displays a detailed depiction of the historic Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the left of the bell, the traditional Latin phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM is inscribed, while a small eagle with open wings stands to the right. The denomination is spelled out along the lower rim. This mid-century piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.3575 troy ounces of the precious metal, and represents a classic era of American coinage design by John R. Sinnock.
