1952 Franklin Half Dollar MS-64 PCGS (FBL)

Struck in Philadelphia in 1952, this silver half dollar is a notable representative of mid-century American coinage. The obverse features a right-facing portrait of Benjamin Franklin, one of the nation's most famous founding figures. Accompanying his likeness are the inscriptions LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the year of issue. This design was created by John R. Sinnock. The reverse of the coin centers on the historic Liberty Bell, rendered with enough detail to show the individual horizontal lines on the lower portion of the bell, earning it a Full Bell Lines (FBL) designation. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible, fulfilling the legal requirement to include the national bird. Surrounding the central image are the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination HALF DOLLAR. This particular coin contains 0.3575 troy ounces of silver with a purity of 0.900. It has been certified as Mint State 64 (MS-64) with the coveted FBL designation, indicating that the delicate details of the bell on the reverse survived the minting process and subsequent decades with exceptional clarity. Because it was minted at the Philadelphia facility, it does not bear a mint mark.
