In 1952, the Philadelphia Mint produced a limited run of proof coins, including just 81,980 of the Franklin Half Dollar. Striking proof coins required polished dies and planchets, resulting in a sharp, reflective finish that highlights the mid-century design. This particular specimen is certified in Proof 64 condition, preserving its original details just as they emerged from the minting press over seven decades ago. Struck in 90 percent silver, this fifty-cent coin contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. Because it was minted in Philadelphia, it bears no mint mark. The design features bold inscriptions, including the traditional American mottos E PLURIBUS UNUM and the country of origin, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, alongside the denomination of HALF DOLLAR.
