1952 Franklin Half Dollar PR-65 PCGS

0.3575 troy oz .900 1952 PR-65 (PCGS)

This mid-century silver half dollar, struck in 1952, represents a classic era of United States coinage. Minted in Philadelphia, the coin is composed of 90 percent silver, which equates to 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. Because it was produced at the Philadelphia Mint, it carries no mint mark, preserving a clean and uncluttered appearance. This particular specimen is certified in Proof 65 condition, highlighting the exceptional quality of its manufacture. The obverse of the coin features a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, designed by John R. Sinnock. Surrounding the portrait are the inscriptions LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the 1952 date. This design departed from the traditional allegorical figures of Liberty, opting instead to honor one of America's most famous founding fathers. On the reverse, the central focus is the historic Liberty Bell, rendered in intricate detail. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible, fulfilling the legal requirement for the denomination. The reverse also features the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, HALF DOLLAR, and the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, completing a design rich in national symbolism.
