1953 Franklin Half Dollar AU

0.3575 troy oz .900 1953 Almost Unc

The 1953 silver half dollar represents a distinctive era in United States coinage, moving away from allegorical figures to celebrate a historic American statesman. Struck in 90% silver, this fifty cent piece contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal and showcases a design crafted by John R. Sinnock. On the obverse, a right-facing portrait of Benjamin Franklin takes center stage. The legendary patriot is flanked by the word LIBERTY arching above his profile, with the year 1953 positioned to his right. Below the bust, the solemn motto IN GOD WE TRUST completes the front design. Turning the coin over reveals a detailed depiction of the Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the left of the bell, the traditional Latin phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM is inscribed, while a small eagle with open wings stands on the right. The denomination, HALF DOLLAR, is clearly written along the bottom rim, beneath the image of the bell.
