This mid-twentieth-century silver half dollar, minted in 1953 at the San Francisco facility, represents a classic era of United States coinage. This particular specimen has been certified in Mint State 64 condition, preserving its original luster and details for modern observers to appreciate. The obverse of the coin presents a right-facing portrait of Benjamin Franklin, one of the nation's most famous founding figures. Accompanying his likeness are the inscriptions for liberty, the national motto of trust in God, and the 1953 date. On the reverse, the design showcases the historic Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle is depicted, fulfilling the legal requirement for the denomination. The reverse inscriptions denote the United States of America, the traditional Latin phrase meaning out of many, one, and the half dollar face value. The small letter S mint mark is also visible on this side, indicating its origin at the San Francisco Mint.
