The 1953 Roosevelt dime from the San Francisco Mint represents a classic piece of mid-century American coinage. Struck in 90 percent silver, this ten-cent denomination contains approximately 0.0715 to 0.0723 troy ounces of precious metal. Preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, the coin retains its original mint luster and crisp details just as it emerged from the West Coast coining presses over seven decades ago. On the obverse, the coin displays a left-facing portrait of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Surrounding the profile are the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1953 date and the designer's initials. The San Francisco mint mark, a small S, is located on the reverse side of the coin. The reverse composition is rich with symbolism, featuring three distinct elements arranged side by side. An olive branch, representing peace, sits on the left. A central upright torch symbolizes liberty, while an oak branch, signifying strength, rests on the right. Intertwined among these symbols is the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, flanked by the legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DIME.
