In 1954, the United States Mint in Denver produced a half dollar that stands as a classic example of mid-century American coinage. Crafted from 90 percent silver, this piece contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. It has been certified in Mint State 64 condition, preserving the crisp details of its mid-twentieth-century manufacture. The obverse of the coin features a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, one of America's most famous founding figures. This portrait, designed by John R. Sinnock, is accompanied by the inscriptions "LIBERTY" and "IN GOD WE TRUST," alongside the 1954 date. The clean, modern lines of the portrait reflect the artistic style of the era. On the reverse, the central focus is the historic Liberty Bell, rendered with its famous crack clearly visible. To the right of the bell, a small eagle is depicted, fulfilling the traditional requirements for United States silver coinage. The reverse inscriptions include the national motto "E Pluribus Unum" and the denomination, while a small "D" mint mark above the bell indicates its origin at the Denver Mint.
