In 1954, the Denver Mint produced over 25 million half dollars featuring the likeness of Benjamin Franklin. This particular silver coin, minted with a purity of 90 percent, contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. It has survived the decades in an exceptional state of preservation, receiving a high grade of Mint State 66 with the coveted Full Bell Lines designation, meaning the horizontal lines on the reverse design are exceptionally sharp and complete. The obverse of the coin displays a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, one of the most famous founding figures of the United States. Accompanying his portrait are the classic inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, alongside the 1954 date. This mid-century design brings a distinctively modern, clean aesthetic to American coinage of the era. On the reverse, the iconic Liberty Bell takes center stage, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible, satisfying the legal requirement for the denomination. The reverse is also inscribed with the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, the country of origin, and the face value of fifty cents.
