This ten-cent piece from 1954 represents a classic era of mid-century American coinage. Struck at the Denver Mint, the coin is composed of 90 percent silver, which equates to 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. Preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, it retains its original luster and sharp details just as it appeared when leaving the minting facility decades ago. The obverse features a profile portrait of Franklin D. Roosevelt, facing left. Surrounding his likeness are the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1954 production year and the designer initials JS. This side of the coin honors the legacy of the president who guided the nation through monumental historical challenges. On the reverse, three distinct symbols of American ideals are arranged from left to right: an olive branch representing peace, a central lighted torch symbolizing liberty, and an oak branch signifying strength and independence. The national motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is woven through these elements, while the outer inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DIME. A small D mint mark is also visible, indicating its origin at the Denver facility.
