1954 Franklin Half Dollar AU

0.3575 troy oz .900 1954 Almost Unc

The mid-century era of American coinage brought a departure from traditional allegorical figures, choosing instead to honor real historical individuals. This 1954 silver half dollar, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, showcases this shift with a striking right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin on the obverse. Surrounding his likeness are the classic inscriptions of liberty and trust, alongside the 1954 year of issue. Turning the coin over reveals a detailed depiction of the Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings stands out, fulfilling the legal requirement for the bird's depiction on the half dollar. The reverse also bears the traditional motto of national unity and the denomination of fifty cents. Composed of 90 percent silver, this piece of history contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal and remains in Almost Uncirculated condition, preserving the crisp details of John R. Sinnock's original design.
