In 1954, the Philadelphia Mint produced a remarkable proof version of the Franklin half dollar. Struck without a mint mark, this mid-century silver coin contains 0.3575 troy ounces of 90 percent pure silver. This particular specimen has achieved a certified grade of PF-67, indicating an extraordinary level of preservation that highlights the artistry of its design. The obverse presents a clean, right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin. Surrounding his likeness are the essential inscriptions of American coinage, including the word LIBERTY, the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST, and the 1954 date. The design was originally created by John R. Sinnock. Turning the coin over reveals a detailed depiction of the historic Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible. The reverse is framed by inscriptions denoting the half dollar denomination, the country of origin, and the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM.
