1954 Franklin Half Dollar PR-65 PCGS

Struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1954, this half dollar is a brilliant example of mid-century American coinage. As a proof coin, it was manufactured using specially prepared dies and planchets, resulting in a highly reflective finish and sharp details. This particular specimen has been certified in Proof 65 condition, showcasing the preservation of its original surfaces. The obverse of the coin presents a right-facing portrait of Benjamin Franklin, designed by John R. Sinnock. Accompanying the founding father's likeness are the inscriptions for liberty, the national motto of trust, and the 1954 date. Because it was minted in Philadelphia, the coin does not bear a mint mark. On the reverse, the central focus is the historic Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with outstretched wings is visible, fulfilling the legal requirement for the denomination. The reverse inscriptions denote the United States of America, the traditional Latin motto, and the face value of half a dollar. Composed of 90 percent silver, this piece contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal.
