1954 Franklin Half Dollar PR-67 PCGS

0.3617 troy oz .900 1954 Proof - 67 (PCGS)

This 1954 silver half dollar represents a beautiful example of mid-twentieth-century American coinage, struck at the Philadelphia Mint in proof format. With a silver purity of 90 percent, the coin contains 0.3617 troy ounces of precious metal. Because it was minted in Philadelphia, it does not display a mint mark, keeping the focus entirely on its clean, polished surfaces and crisp design details. The obverse of the coin features a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, one of America's most famous founding figures. Surrounding his portrait are the classic inscriptions of freedom and faith: "LIBERTY" and "IN GOD WE TRUST", alongside the 1954 date. This design, created by John R. Sinnock, offers a dignified and minimalist portrait that stands out beautifully in a proof finish. On the reverse, the central focus is the historic Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible, a design element required by law. The reverse inscriptions spell out the nation's name, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", the traditional motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and the face value, "HALF DOLLAR". Graded at an exceptional Proof 67, this coin highlights the superb craftsmanship of the Philadelphia Mint's proof-coining process during the post-war era.
