In 1954, the Philadelphia mint produced a striking proof edition of the Franklin half dollar. Struck in 0.900 fine silver, this mid-century coin contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. Because it was minted in Philadelphia, it does not bear a mint mark, maintaining a clean and classic appearance. The obverse features a right-facing profile portrait of Benjamin Franklin, one of America's most famous founding figures. Accompanying his likeness are the inscriptions for liberty and the national motto of trust, alongside the 1954 date. This design was created by John R. Sinnock. On the reverse, the historic Liberty Bell is depicted in rich detail. The traditional motto meaning "out of many, one" is displayed alongside the denomination of the coin, completing a design that celebrates early American heritage.
