1954-S Franklin Half Dollar MS-65 NGC (FBL)

0.3575 troy oz .900 1954 MS-65 (NGC)

In 1954, the San Francisco mint struck a classic piece of American coinage featuring one of the nation's most famous founding figures. This half dollar, composed of 90 percent silver with a precious metal content of 0.3575 troy ounces, represents a beautiful moment in mid-century design. The obverse presents a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, accompanied by the simple yet powerful inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST. The reverse of the coin is rich with symbolic imagery, dominated by the iconic Liberty Bell. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings balances the composition. This side also bears the traditional national motto, E PLURIBUS UNUM, along with the country of origin and the half dollar denomination. What makes this particular specimen extraordinary is its exceptional state of preservation. Graded Mint State 65, it has earned the coveted Full Bell Lines designation. This means the horizontal lines on the lower portion of the Liberty Bell are completely defined and unbroken, a rare characteristic that highlights the quality of the strike from the San Francisco mint, which is marked by the letter S.
