This ten-cent piece from 1954 represents a classic era of mid-century American coinage. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, the coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.0715 to 0.0723 troy ounces of the precious metal. Preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, it retains the sharp details and lustrous surface of a coin that never entered daily circulation. The obverse features a profile portrait of President Franklin D. Roosevelt facing left. Accompanying the portrait are the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1954 date and the initials JS. The San Francisco mint mark, a small S, is positioned on the reverse side. On the reverse, three distinct symbols of American ideals are arranged from left to right: an olive branch representing peace, a central lit torch symbolizing liberty, and an oak branch signifying strength and independence. The national motto, E PLURIBUS UNUM, is split across the design elements, surrounded by the country's name, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and the denomination, ONE DIME.
