1954 Washington Quarter PF-67 NGC

In 1954, the Philadelphia Mint produced a limited run of proof Washington quarters, striking just 233,300 of these specially crafted pieces. Unlike the standard circulating coinage of the era, these proof editions were manufactured with polished dies and planchets to achieve an extraordinary level of detail and reflectivity. This particular specimen has survived in remarkable condition, earning a high certified grade of PF-67. Composed of 90 percent silver with a metal content of 0.1788 troy ounces, the coin features the familiar portrait of George Washington on the obverse. The word LIBERTY is boldly inscribed above his profile, with the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST positioned to the left and the date 1954 below. Because it was struck at the Philadelphia facility, the coin bears no mint mark. The reverse displays a majestic eagle with outstretched wings, surrounded by the traditional inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination QUARTER DOLLAR. The Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is nestled just above the eagle's head, completing a design that represents a classic era of mid-century American coinage.
