Struck at the Denver Mint in 1955, this ten-cent piece represents a classic era of United States coinage when circulating dimes were composed of precious metal. Minted with a purity of 90 percent silver, each coin contains approximately 0.0715 to 0.0723 troy ounces of actual silver content. This particular specimen survives in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, preserving its original luster and sharp details just as they emerged from the coining presses decades ago. The obverse of the dime presents a profile portrait of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, facing left. Surrounding his likeness are the inscriptions "LIBERTY" and "IN GOD WE TRUST", along with the 1955 date and the designer's initials, "JS". This portrait has served as a familiar symbol of American currency since its introduction in the mid twentieth century. On the reverse, a trio of symbolic elements stands in a row. An olive branch on the left represents peace, a central upright torch signifies liberty, and an oak branch on the right symbolizes strength. Intertwined among these symbols is the Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM". The reverse is completed by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "ONE DIME", alongside the "D" mint mark that identifies its origin in Denver.
