This mid-twentieth-century half dollar, struck in Philadelphia during 1955, represents a classic era of United States coinage. Crafted from 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. It has been certified in Mint State 64 (MS-64), indicating a high level of preservation that keeps its original details sharp and clear. The obverse of the coin displays a right-facing portrait of Benjamin Franklin, one of the nation's most famous founding figures. Surrounding his likeness are the traditional inscriptions of "LIBERTY" and "IN GOD WE TRUST", alongside the 1955 date. Because it was minted at the Philadelphia facility, the coin does not bear a mint mark. On the reverse, the central design features the historic Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible, fulfilling the legal requirement of the time to include the national bird. The reverse also bears the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and the denomination "HALF DOLLAR".
