The nickname arises from a die clash that left a small, tooth-like mark on Benjamin Franklin's upper lip, giving the famous patriot a comical buck-toothed appearance. The obverse presents a right-facing portrait of Benjamin Franklin, accompanied by the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, alongside the 1955 date.
