Struck in the mid-century era, the 1955 Franklin half dollar represents a classic period of American coinage. This particular silver coin, graded in Extra Fine condition, is highly regarded by enthusiasts for its distinctive character. It contains 0.3575 troy ounces of silver, with a purity of 90 percent. Produced at the Philadelphia Mint, this issue does not carry a mint mark, which was standard practice for the facility at the time. The obverse of the coin displays a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, one of America's most famous founding figures. Surrounding his portrait are the traditional inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, alongside the 1955 date. The design was originally created by John R. Sinnock, capturing a dignified likeness of Franklin. On the reverse, the central focus is the historic Liberty Bell, rendered with fine detail. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible, fulfilling the legal requirement for the denomination. The reverse inscriptions clearly state the country of origin, the denomination of HALF DOLLAR, and the traditional Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM.
