The 1955 Roosevelt dime represents a classic era of United States silver coinage. Struck in Philadelphia, this ten cent piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.0715 to 0.0723 troy ounces of precious metal. Preserved in brilliant uncirculated condition, the coin retains its original mint luster and sharp details just as it appeared when it first left the coining press. On the obverse, the coin displays a detailed profile of President Franklin D. Roosevelt facing left. Surrounding the portrait are the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1955 date. The tiny initials JS are visible at the base of the neck. The reverse design is rich with traditional symbolism, presenting three distinct elements arranged side by side. An olive branch, representing peace, sits on the left. In the center stands a lit torch, symbolizing liberty and knowledge. To the right is an oak branch, signifying strength and independence. These central motifs are surrounded by the legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DIME, with the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM woven through the design.
