1956 Franklin Half Dollar MS-64 PCGS (FBL)
Struck in 1956, this mid-century United States half dollar is a beautiful example of silver coinage. Minted in Philadelphia, the coin contains 0.3575 troy ounces of pure silver. It features the artistry of designer John R. Sinnock, whose work captures two major symbols of American heritage in remarkable detail. The obverse presents a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, one of the nation's most famous founding figures. Surrounding his portrait are the classic inscriptions of liberty and trust, alongside the 1956 date. Because this piece was struck at the Philadelphia Mint, it carries no mint mark, leaving the fields around the portrait clean and open. On the reverse, the design showcases the historic Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the side of the bell, a small eagle is depicted, fulfilling the traditional requirement for the denomination. The reverse also bears the United States of America country name, the half dollar face value, and the traditional motto of unity. This particular specimen has been certified in Mint State 64 condition, with the Full Bell Lines designation highlighting the exceptional strength of the strike on the reverse design.
