In 1956, the Philadelphia Mint produced a limited run of proof Franklin half dollars, totaling 669,384 pieces. Among these, a distinct variety known as the Type I emerged. This specific version is distinguished by subtle design variations on the reverse side, particularly on the small eagle flanking the Liberty Bell. On the Type I variety, the eagle's chest lacks defined feather details, and its wings display exactly four feathers on each side. This particular specimen has achieved a remarkable certified grade of Proof 69 (PF-69), representing a coin in nearly flawless condition. Struck from 90 percent silver with a precious metal weight of 0.3575 troy ounces, the coin features the profile of Benjamin Franklin on the obverse. The reverse showcases the iconic Liberty Bell alongside the uniquely detailed eagle, accompanied by the traditional inscriptions of the United States of America and the half dollar denomination.
