The 1956 Roosevelt Dime stands as a classic example of mid-twentieth-century American pocket change. Struck in 90 percent silver, this ten-cent piece carries a precious metal content of approximately 0.0715 to 0.0723 troy ounces. Preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, it retains the original luster and sharp details from the Philadelphia Mint, where it was struck without a mint mark. On the obverse, the coin displays a left-facing profile of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Surrounding his portrait are the essential American inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1956 date and the designer initials JS. This side of the coin captures a clean, modern aesthetic that was introduced to honor the wartime president shortly after his passing. The reverse of the dime presents a powerful trio of symbols arranged side by side. At the center stands a lit torch, representing liberty, flanked by an olive branch on the left for peace and an oak branch on the right for strength. Woven through these elements are the words E PLURIBUS UNUM, while the outer rim displays the issuing authority, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and the denomination, ONE DIME.
