1957 Franklin Half Dollar Fine/AU

0.3575 troy oz .900 1957 Fine or Better

Struck in the mid-century era, this United States half dollar contains 0.3575 troy ounces of 90 percent pure silver. The coin represents a distinct period in American coinage when historical figures began replacing allegorical representations of liberty on circulating currency. The front of the coin displays a right-facing portrait of Benjamin Franklin, designed by John R. Sinnock. Accompanying the profile of the famous statesman are the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1957 year of issue. This clean, dignified portrait offers a striking contrast to earlier coin designs. On the reverse side, the central focus is the historic Liberty Bell, rendered in intricate detail. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible, fulfilling the legal requirement for the denomination. The reverse also features the traditional motto E Pluribus Unum alongside the country name and the half dollar denomination.
