This mid-century silver half dollar, struck in Philadelphia during 1957, offers a window into American design of the late 1950s. Composed of 90 percent silver with a precious metal content of 0.3575 troy ounces, the coin has been certified in Mint State 64 condition, displaying the Full Bell Lines on the reverse that collectors look for. The obverse features a realistic profile of Benjamin Franklin looking toward the right. Surrounding his likeness are the traditional inscriptions of liberty and trust, alongside the 1957 date of manufacture. Because this piece was minted at the Philadelphia facility, it features no mint mark. On the reverse, the central focus is the historic Liberty Bell, rendered with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with open wings balances the design. The reverse is completed by the national motto of unity and the fifty-cent denomination, making this a classic representation of mid-twentieth-century United States coinage.
