1957 Franklin Half Dollar PR-65 PCGS

Struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1957, this half dollar is a brilliant example of mid-twentieth-century American coinage. As a proof strike, it was prepared with extra care, resulting in a highly polished finish that highlights every detail of its design. The coin contains 0.3575 troy ounces of silver, with a purity of 90 percent, and has been certified as Proof 65. The obverse presents a right-facing portrait of Benjamin Franklin, one of the nation's most celebrated founding figures. Surrounding his likeness are the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the date of manufacture. Because it was struck in Philadelphia, the coin carries no mint mark. On the reverse, the central focus is the historic Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is depicted, fulfilling the legal requirement of the era. The inscriptions on this side include the face value of HALF DOLLAR, the nation of origin, and the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM.
