In 1957, the Philadelphia Mint produced a limited run of 1,247,952 proof dimes. Strikingly distinct from standard circulating coinage, these pieces were crafted with polished dies and blanks to achieve a superior level of detail. Because they were minted in Philadelphia, these coins do not carry a mint mark, a traditional characteristic of the facility's output during this era. This particular ten-cent piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. It has achieved an exceptional grade of Proof 68 (PF-68), indicating a coin that is nearly flawless, with only the most minuscule imperfections visible under close inspection. The obverse of the dime features the profile of Franklin D. Roosevelt, accompanied by the inscriptions "LIBERTY" and "IN GOD WE TRUST", alongside the 1957 date. The reverse displays a torch flanked by olive and oak branches, symbolizing peace and strength, with the legends "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and the denomination "ONE DIME".
