Struck at the Denver Mint in 1958, this silver half dollar honors one of America's most famous founding figures, Benjamin Franklin. The obverse of the coin features a clean, right-facing profile of Franklin. Surrounding his portrait are the classic inscriptions of freedom and faith: LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the mid-century date. On the reverse, the iconic Liberty Bell takes center stage, complete with a small eagle with spread wings standing nearby. The inscriptions on this side include the denomination, HALF DOLLAR, and the traditional motto, E PLURIBUS UNUM. The Denver origin is marked by the letter D. This particular coin has been certified in Mint State 64 (MS-64) and carries the highly sought-after Full Bell Lines (FBL) designation. This distinction means the horizontal lines on the Liberty Bell are exceptionally sharp and complete, indicating a remarkably crisp strike. Composed of 90 percent silver, which equates to 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal, this piece was designed by John R. Sinnock and stands as a beautiful example of mid-twentieth-century American coinage.
