This 1958 half dollar represents a classic mid-century American coin design, struck in Philadelphia without a mint mark. Composed of 90 percent silver, it contains 0.3575 troy ounces of the precious metal. This particular specimen has been certified in Mint State 64 (MS-64) condition, preserving the crisp details of its original strike. The obverse of the coin presents a right-facing portrait of Benjamin Franklin, designed by John R. Sinnock. Surrounding the founding father's likeness are the inscriptions "LIBERTY" and "IN GOD WE TRUST", alongside the 1958 date. This design marked a departure from previous circulating coinage by honoring a historical figure who was not a president. On the reverse, the iconic Liberty Bell takes center stage, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible, fulfilling the legal requirement to include the national symbol. The reverse inscriptions feature the country of origin, the "HALF DOLLAR" denomination, and the traditional motto "E Pluribus Unum".
