Struck in the United States in 1958, this silver half dollar belongs to a classic mid-century series. The coin contains 0.3575 troy ounces of silver, minted with a purity of 0.900. Having achieved a high certified grade of Mint State 65 (MS-65), this particular specimen retains the crisp details and luster of its original striking at the Philadelphia mint, which is indicated by the absence of a mint mark. The obverse of the coin displays a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, designed by John R. Sinnock. Accompanying the portrait are the inscriptions for liberty, the national motto of trust, and the 1958 date. This design marked a departure from previous half dollar motifs, bringing a historical American statesman to the nation's coinage. On the reverse, the central focus is the historic Liberty Bell, rendered with its characteristic crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible, fulfilling the traditional requirement for the denomination.
