Struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1958, this mid-century silver half dollar represents a classic era of United States coinage. This particular specimen is certified in Proof 66 condition, showcasing the sharp details and mirror-like surfaces characteristic of the proof minting process. Because it was produced in Philadelphia, the coin does not bear a mint mark. The obverse of the coin features a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin. Surrounding his portrait are the inscriptions LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the 1958 date. This design was created by John R. Sinnock, whose work captures the statesman with remarkable clarity. On the reverse, the central motif is the historic Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle is visible, fulfilling the legal requirement for the denomination. The reverse inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination HALF DOLLAR. Each coin contains 0.3575 troy ounces of silver, minted with a purity of 90 percent.
