Introduced in the mid twentieth century, this copper cent represents a beloved era of American pocket change. The obverse side displays a detailed portrait of Abraham Lincoln, a depiction originally crafted by Victor David Brenner. This familiar profile is accompanied by the traditional inscriptions of liberty and trust that define United States coinage. On the reverse, the design transitions to the Lincoln Memorial, a detailed rendering created by Frank Gasparro. This architectural tribute replaced the earlier wheat ears design, showcasing the grand monument in Washington, D.C. legible down to its columns. The reverse also bears the classic mottoes of unity alongside the denomination of one cent.
