In 1959, the Denver Mint struck this silver half dollar, a piece that stands out today for its exceptional state of preservation. Crafted from 0.900 fine silver with a precious metal content of 0.3575 troy ounces, this coin is a classic representative of mid-twentieth-century American coinage. It has been graded Mint State 65 (MS-65) with the coveted Full Bell Lines (FBL) designation, indicating that the horizontal lines on the reverse design are fully defined and exceptionally sharp. The obverse of the coin presents a right-facing portrait of Benjamin Franklin, designed by John R. Sinnock. Accompanying the statesman's likeness are the inscriptions "LIBERTY" and "IN GOD WE TRUST", alongside the 1959 date. This clean, dignified portrait offers a striking contrast to the elaborate motifs of earlier eras. On the reverse, the iconic Liberty Bell takes center stage, rendered with enough clarity to show the complete horizontal lines that earn it the FBL distinction. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible.
