Struck in Philadelphia during the mid-century era, this 1959 half dollar is a remarkable example of American silver coinage. Made from 90 percent silver and containing 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal, the coin carries no mint mark. This particular specimen is certified in Mint State 65 (MS-65) and has earned the coveted Full Bell Lines designation, indicating an exceptionally sharp and complete strike on the reverse design details. The obverse features a right-facing portrait of Benjamin Franklin, designed by John R. Sinnock. Surrounding the founding father's likeness are the inscriptions "LIBERTY", "IN GOD WE TRUST", and the 1959 year of issue. On the reverse, the iconic Liberty Bell takes center stage, rendered with enough detail to show the individual horizontal lines on the bell's lower surface. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible. The reverse is completed by the traditional motto "E Pluribus Unum", along with the denomination and the national legend.
