1959 Franklin Half Dollar PF-67 NGC

Struck in the Philadelphia mint, this 1959 half dollar is a brilliant example of mid-twentieth-century American coinage. As a proof coin, it was manufactured with polished dies to achieve a superior finish, earning a high grade of Proof 67 (PF-67). The coin contains 0.3575 troy ounces of 90 percent pure silver. The obverse of the coin displays a right-facing portrait of Benjamin Franklin, one of America's most famous founding figures. Surrounding his profile are the inscriptions LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the year 1959. Because this piece was minted in Philadelphia, it carries no mint mark. On the reverse, the design showcases the historic Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle is visible, completing the patriotic imagery. The reverse inscriptions mark the nation of origin, the half dollar denomination, and the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM.
