1959 Franklin Half Dollar PF-69 NGC

0.3575 troy oz .900 1959 Proof - 69 (NGC)

Struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1959, this mid-century half dollar represents a high point of United States silver coinage. It is composed of 90% silver, containing 0.3575 troy ounces of the precious metal. This particular specimen has achieved an exceptional certified grade of Proof 69, indicating a coin of near-perfection with virtually no visible imperfections, preserving the design exactly as the engravers intended. The obverse of the coin features a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, one of America's most famous founding figures. Surrounding his portrait are the classic inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, alongside the 1959 date. Because it was minted in Philadelphia, the coin carries no mint mark, leaving the fields clean and highlighting the proof finish. On the reverse, the central focus is the historic Liberty Bell, complete with its famous crack. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible, a design element added to fulfill legal requirements. The reverse also displays the denomination of half dollar and the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, completing a classic piece of American numismatic history designed by John R. Sinnock.
