1959 Franklin Half Dollar PR-66 PCGS

0.3575 troy oz .900 1959 PR-66 (PCGS)

This 1959 United States half dollar represents a striking example of mid-century American coinage. Struck in Philadelphia as a proof issue, this coin has been certified in Proof 66 condition, showcasing the sharp details and reflective surfaces characteristic of the era's specialized minting process. Composed of 90 percent silver, it contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. The obverse features a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, one of the nation's most famous founding figures. Surrounding his likeness are the traditional inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, alongside the 1959 year of issue. Because it was produced at the Philadelphia Mint, the coin carries no mint mark. On the reverse, the design displays the historic Liberty Bell as its central focus. To the right of the bell, a small eagle with spread wings is visible, a detail added to fulfill legal requirements for the denomination. The reverse is completed by the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the face value of HALF DOLLAR.
