1959 Franklin Half Dollar PR-68 PCGS

0.3575 troy oz .900 1959 Proof - 68 (PCGS)

In 1959, the Philadelphia Mint produced a limited number of proof coins, including a half dollar that stands as a beautiful example of mid-century American coinage. This particular specimen has been certified in an extraordinary Proof 68 condition, indicating a nearly flawless strike and surface quality that highlights the artistic details of the era. The front of the coin features a right-facing profile of Benjamin Franklin, one of America's most famous founding figures. Surrounding his likeness are the inscriptions for liberty and the national motto expressing trust in God, alongside the date of production. The design was created by John R. Sinnock, who brought a clean, modern aesthetic to the silver piece. On the reverse, the iconic Liberty Bell takes center stage, complete with its famous crack. To the left of the bell, the traditional Latin phrase meaning "out of many, one" is inscribed, while a small eagle with open wings rests to the right. The country of origin and the half-dollar denomination are clearly displayed around the outer edge. Struck from 0.3575 troy ounces of fine silver, this coin carries no mint mark, which is characteristic of pieces struck at the Philadelphia facility during this period.
