Struck in 90 percent silver, this 1959 ten-cent piece from the United States represents a classic era of American coinage. Preserved in brilliant uncirculated condition, the coin retains its original luster, allowing the fine details of its mid-twentieth-century design to shine through clearly. With a silver content of approximately 0.0723 troy ounces, it is a tangible example of the nation's circulating precious metal coinage before the transition to base metals. The obverse features a profile portrait of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, facing left. Surrounding his likeness are the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1959 year of issue. Beneath the truncation of the neck, the designer's initials JS are visible. On the reverse, three distinct symbols of American ideals are arranged side by side. A central lit torch represents liberty, flanked on the left by an olive branch symbolizing peace, and on the right by an oak branch representing strength and independence.
